ORREFORS vintage 70s crystal glass ice block flower candle holder by Lars Hellsten. Orrefors glassworks is a glassworks in the Swedish village Orrefors in Smaland. Orrefors manufactured crystal glassware and art glass. The range consisted of crystal stemware, barware, vases, and sculptures and lighting products in crystal. The glassworks in Orrefors closed in 2012. Orrefors was a part of the Swedish glassworks group Orrefors Kosta Boda AB. Lars Hellsten (b. 1933) studied sculpture at the Collage of Arts, Crafts and design in Stockholm before coming to Orrefors in 1972. He is also the designer behind such collections as CORONA and ODYSSEY and the heart shaped AMOUR and MY HEART. Nature clearly inspire his art glass, too, including many grand pieces well suited for public places. His glass is characteristically massive and forceful, whether it be cast, mould blown or free blown.
